Pangong lake: A feat of nature’s gift

The sacred ranges harbor Pangong Lake which is nestled at a height of about 4350 meters. When you escape towards the lake, you will store your excitement in your pocket and leap right into the discovery of the lake once your motorbike or car slowly fades into silence. The lake extends from India to Tibet and is a tourist destined place in Ladakh. The place is one stop destination with many gifts of nature. A tourist can pick one adventure at a time. Even though it is mostly blue in color, it changes its color to green and sometimes reddish. It takes 4 to 5 hours when you travel from Leh to Pangong Lake and it is around 140 km away from Leh. The distance covered from Nubra Valley to Pangong Lake is approx. 150 km and within 6 to 7 hours, Pangon Lake awaits.  The lake is salty in nature and in winter it is frozen in haze. The movie 3 idiots was filmed at the same spot and people also rejoice taking pictures.

This lake will awaken the eco-activist in you. Well do you know why? A number of migratory birds arrive at the lake. And during summer, the Bar-headed goose and Brahmini ducks are observed. The region around the lake fosters some species of wildlife including the kiang and the marmot.
