Matho Nagrang

There is one festival that stands odd amidst the snowy winter season and that is called Matho Nagrang. The festival is performed at Matho monastery which last for two days. The prophesy of the oracles is performed and they depicts the prediction of the future. Matho Nagrang happens on the 15th day of the first month of Tibetan calendar.

The performance of mask dance is performed on the tunes of traditional music instruments. After the completion of the meditation for two months, the oracles appear in public. The locals immerse themselves in the culture of consulting for advice relevant to various problems. The two monks set forth into isolation and complete fasting in order to purify themselves.

Matho Nagrang festival is one of the most significant festivals as it falls under the Sakya school of Tibetan Buddhism. When the festival begins, people flock together for an enticing performance and curiously capturing them on their camera. This ennobling festival started five centuries ago.
