Drass

Drass is settled amidst the snow-topped peaks at a height of 3230 meters above the sea level. When you cross Zojila pass, your journey towards the beautiful Drass Valley eventually begins. An ennobling tale of this valley begins with its guardians and they are the people of Drass Valley. In fact they can conquer with the harsh climatic condition of winter. Owing to these reasons, the people of Drass Valley are called the guardians of Ladakh’s Gateway.

It has been listed as the second coldest inhabited place in the world. Drass Valley is about 56 kilometers away from Kargil. Drass is described as the base camp for the trek to Suru Valley. It will follow through the mountains of meadows blooming with flowers on the both side of Umbala Pass. When you have to pick the dates to travel to Drass Valley, then it is noted that May to September are the best months.

Drass war memorial is also called Kargil war memorial and it is nestled in the foothills of the Tololing Hill. Drang drung glacier is placed at a height of 4,780 meters and the glacier is a sum of snow and ice. While there are countless things to do in Drass Valley, you can instantly jump for a trekking experience in these places such as Mushko Valley, Saliskote and Amarnath
